Many low-pressure package boilers use tubular glass gages as a means for monitoring level on their Low Water Cut Off/Pump Controllers. These boilers are typically operating below 250 WSP. Tubular glass is susceptible to chipping or breaking, and as a result can be potentially unsafe even in low pressure steam applications
A simple upgrade would be to swap out the tubular level gage assembly with a Jerguson Armored Reflex Gage. This alternative is a much safer and more durable solution for level indication. Reflex glass contains molded prisms on the process side resulting in clear black/silver level indication regardless of the color properties of the fluid. This is can be very helpful for monitoring level in water applications where the fluid is clear.
